TRANSPORTE DE LARVAS Y POSTLARVAS DE «GAMITANA» Colossoma macropomum (CUVIER, 1818), «BOQUICHICO» Prochilodus nigricans (AGASSIZ, 1829) Y EL HÍBRIDO «PACOTANA» (P. brachypomus h. x C. macropomum m.)

El presente trabajo describe un novedoso procedimiento para el transporte de larvas y post-larvas de las especies «gamitana» Colossoma macropomum, «boquichico» Prochilodus nigricans y el híbrido «pacotana» (P. Brachypomus x C. macropomum ), realizado en el laboratorio del IIAP-San Martín, durante los años 2003 y 2004. El transporte se hizo utilizando bolsas de polietileno de 50 cm x 74 cm, colocadas dentro de baldes de material plástico de 18 litros. A estos recipientes se les agregó entre 6 a 8 litros de agua y el espacio restante fue llenado con oxígeno; cada envase contenía 3000 larvas/litro y entre 1000 a 1500 postlarvas/litro, los tiempos de transporte fueron de 4 h para las larvas y entre 7 h a 53 h para las postlarvas, enviadas a diferentes lugares del país. Los resultados nos muestran que el mayor porcentaje de mortalidad fue de 20% y se presentó cuando se transportaron 1,500 postlarvas/litro con un tiempo de duración de 53 h. El menor porcentaje de mortalidad en postlarvas fue del 2%, y para el caso de las larvas no hubo mortalidad.
