REPORTE DE LA PRESENCIA DE Chaetobranchus semifasciatus STEINDACHNER, 1875 (CICHLIDAE), EN LA CUENCA DEL RÍO YAVARÍ (LORETO-PERÚ)

Esta especie se ubica dentro del género Chaetobranchus Heckel. El género se distingue en particular por tener los arcos branquiales provistos de numerosas y alargadas branquiaespinas, así como la presencia de microbranquiaespinas sobre la parte inferior de los dientes faríngeos; la boca es grande, sumamente protráctil, llegando el proceso superior de los intermaxilares a pasar más atrás de la línea media que une los ojos; la aleta anal presenta de 13 a 16 radios en total, siendo los tres primeros espinosos, punzantes, los demás flexibles. Considerando estas particularidades Fernández-Yépez (1951) optó conveniente agruparla en la subfamilia CHAETOBRANCHINAE, la cual incluye a los géneros Chaetobranchus y Chaetobranchopsis.Downloads
